Wasteland Prologue

Written by *Tifa-the-Strange

I knew why I was here...

It took me only about 9 minutes after waking up in this strange land the purpose of why I was here...

That monster wanted something from me...

Something vital...

Something that would help him achieve what he desired...

It would kill me if he ever gets his hands on it...

But why me?

Why not someone else?

"We're almost at the top, Miss. You're about to meet the ruler of this world," Gus, the Gremlin in red said after we arrived at a large door at the peak of this mountain of junk. "And please don't be harsh on him, he has his reasons of why he did what he did to us over at the World of Gremlins... and Dark Beauty Castle..." he muttered, chuckling nervously.

"He did the same thing to his younger brother, if that helps." said his nephew, Markus, a Gremlin in Purple, without his uncle's mustache.

I nodded as the doors behind us closed up thanks to a card guard. All that was left was a flight of stairs with posters of the infamous mouse, with a few of the rabbit. It wasn't an easy climb, better yet, it wasn't an easy way to travel through this desolate and rather depressing world. If I had known of this place I would have felt sorry for the characters that had to stay here, but I was feeling that way already.

Gus had told me that this world was once beautiful, before the First Thinner Disaster was accidentally caused by Mickey Mouse, it was then restored to its grandeur after Mickey, with Gus and Oswald, had defeated the monster with a magical brush, but something happened that caused the Second Thinner Disaster, and it was much worse from what they've told me compared to TD1 (Thinner Disaster 1 as they called it in order to not have it long, kind of their own WWI).

"Before we go through... won't he and his brother freak when they... you know..." I began, raising both my arms at them, my left arm was covered in light blue paint, small droplets coming off from the edge as it covered three quarts of that particular arm. My right arm, on the other hand, was covered in a sickly green toned color, thinner, but my hand wasn't normal, it was a beastly formed claw, a spike forming on my elbow before cutting off like the other arm, droplets of thinner coming off the same way.

I never had this until I was touched by the monster when Gus and Markus rescued me from that dungeon under what they called the Dark Beauty Castle, it had felt like it was so long ago.

Markus looked at his uncle worriedly as Gus chuckled nervously. "I promise that Mickey won't judge you too quickly... But Oswald... Well..." he sighed as Marcus smiled at me. "Don't worry about the Rabbit, I know he'll come around once he gets to know you. He never has a grudge on people for too long-"

Gus cleared his throat, interrupting Markus on purpose. "Hey, it's not my fault he had an 80 year long grudge against his younger brother."

I let out a small yet nervous laugh, "Can we just get a move on?" I asked, "I really want to get these off me and go back home... That Blot won't stop until he has me..." I shivered.

"Don't worry, Miss!" Markus said, puffing his chest. "I won't let that Blot lay his hands on ya!"

Gus rolled his eyes, "Let's go, Casanova."

Markus' face lit up and his cheeks showed a bright pink color over his yellowish face. "S-shut up, uncle!" he stuttered as he followed Gus, I had to chase them as Gus laughed at his nephew, I couldn't help but laugh along the older Gremlin, Markus had always blushed after I thanked him and his uncle for rescuing me, and he always tried to impress me ever since, it was rather cute, actually.

The flight of stairs weren't steady, I had to paint a few missing areas so I could climb, it made me jealous of the Gremlins, they could fly over with no problem at all while I was eternally earthbound. I didn't complain, it helped me build some cardio I desperately needed.

Once reaching the top of the stairs, I noticed a few cameras watching us for a few minutes that felt eternal as we waited for the doors to open, Gus went to the camera and waved at it, as if saying hello. The camera's lens moved a bit, adjusting itself before a large thud and creak echoed, the doors were opening. I took a breath and, with both Gremlins at my side, took a step forward, card guards all around, watching us.

Mickey and Oswald better be here... or else I'll be very pissed off for climbing all of this mountain for nothing...
