Nightwing Ch 4

"Elder Mutsuguyo, I implore you... The skies have been closed to all bats. You must stay within shadows if you want your colony safe."

"Zephyr, it's too late for us to go back, the young ones would have done all that flying for nothing." The Greenwing elder spoke rather irritated. "I think your ears are starting to fail you. All this time staying here with that stray pup must've worn you out, she's nothing but a burden to you."

"Tifa is not a burden. She has been like a daughter to me and gave me company. She's really helpful."

"Helpful to stir up trouble with the migrating colonies" Mutsuguyo scoffed

Zephyr squinted, but took a deep breath and spoke calmly. "Mutsuguyo, if you want to risk your colony then fine... Don't say I didn't warn you..."

The old bat glanced down at the colony, the Brightwing roosted by two Greenwings, she was laughing along with them, that made him smile. "Aw man, you guys. This is your third migration and I haven't met you? Damn me and my stupidity" she giggled. "Chu are not allowed to lol at us! We lol at chu!!" the female Greenwing pointed out. "Katie, dun forget that I LICK CHUR FACE!!"

"Leo!" Katie yelled out, she fell with a thump onto the wooden plank beneath her as Leo held her tightly, licking the fur ontop of her face. Tifa watched them with a smile at first, a frown replaced it as she wondered, 'Will I find someone... To spend the rest of my life with?'

"Greenwings! Spread your wings! In the air!" Mutsuguyo called out to his colony. The mothers and their newborns took flight, the males followed. "Damn it..." Leo grunted, he helped Katie to be on all fours. "Elder poo face is no fun at all... We just got here!" They both said their goodbyes to the Brightwing and took off with the rest of the Greenwings. Tifa sighed, Zephyr landed near her and placed his claw on her shoulder.

"The owls will take them dead or alive..."

"Closing the skies... How pathetic..." He grew tired of the rats and pigeons he ate in that human city, the black bat had finished eating a rat's hind leg and threw the bones away. "Bah! Even without help, I'll get out of this hell hole and find my way back..." Siyamak's wings spread like shadows, without a care in the world if owls or any other bird would face him, even if they were a bit bigger than him, he would show no mercy.

How he longed to be back in the jungle. The warmth of the sun in his wings, the suculant meals of his hunts, he even began to miss his family. His mother, his father, even his sister who annoyed him to no end. The bat will get back, he will survive this freezing hell.

He will get out of this, no matter what...

The Brightwing culdn't take it anymore, "Zephyr, we've been cooped up in here for too long, and you still haven't told me why the owls are out capturing bats" The albino sighed, it's been almost a week that they haven't left the tower, eating mostly berries, mosquitoes, those awful flies and rarely any beatles. "Tifa... The reason is that..." He sighed. "I've heard a pigeon say to his captain that a bat killed off two of his kind, along with some rats..."

So that's why... "I do hope that the other colonies get the news..."
Her eyes gleamed, bats killing birds? That's impossible... Unless it was... Giant bats?

"Zephyr... if Mutsuguyo is stubborn enough he won't warn the others..."

His ears perked up, he knew where she was going with this. "So, you're saying that... You'll go to warn your colony?" Tifa took a moment, then nodded. "I'll go warn Rodamira myself..."
Zephyr smiled, "I may not know what might happen to you... Promise me that you'll be aware of everything that is around you..."
A wide toothy grin spread across her snout, "Zephyr..." She wrapped her wings around him in a warm embrace, "I'll make you proud..."

"I know you will..."
